12 Steps of Animation As They Apply to Our Project:
Appeal
Want viewer to be drawn into the animation. Sleek textures and dynamic lighting
Timing
Showing individual parts of a whole, then how they all interact with each other at the end. Connection between sounds and visual pattterns. Towards end of animation, sounds build as patterns get more complex.
Exaggeration
Emphasizing dramatic ending. Showing movement in a 3-D space by making patterns move dramatically toward and away from viewer.
Anticipation
Using a drop in the sound and slowed action in the animation to build viewer's expectation.
"Straight Ahead" or "Pose to Pose" Action
Pose to pose action will help us create a fluid animation as pieces in our scene move around.
Secondary Action
The geometry we use will form moving lines that don't cause any secondary effects to other objects.
Arcs
Moving lines will, for the most part, travel in smooth organic motions.
Slow (Ease) In/Out
Movements of lines and objects will look more realistic when we incorporate smooth changes in velocity.
Squash/Stretch
individual shards will be squashed/stretched when they exlode out at beginnning and come back together at end. This will emphasize motion of the pieces.
Staging
dramatic motions wil direct viewer's attention.
Follow-through, overlapping action
Different parts move at different rates to draw attention where the main action is.
Solid Drawing
Knowledge of basics of weight, balance, lighting, etc. will help us create a convincing virtual environment.
Personality (not a principle)
Portraying a combination of themes. The different themes are represented with use of altering shades, line weights, and movement.

Inspiration:
interesting movement with geometric shapes
Maybe something with a more organic feel, like ink blots. I was thinking something like this would be cool if it was faster paced and more dynamic
the idea of moving around in a single moment of time, wherein a lot of action is happening could be an interesting way to provide some introspective to all the themes that were presented. Although I think it lacks the excitement we're looking for in a big finale. The real reason I put this up here is I like the texture they used to create this environment.
starts slow, but some neat visuals that we might be able to emulate
lots of good complex geometry transformations
